Plans announced for Montreal NAFFEM 2013

New Board of Directors and discussed plans for NAFFEM 2013, from 28th to 30th April 2013.

Members of the CFTDI elected a new Board of Directors and discussed plans for NAFFEM, which will be held a little earlier next year (April 28 – 30, 2013) and will serve as the launching pad for important new industry development initiatives.

Betty Balaila (Zuki Int’l) returns as president, accompanied by vice-presidents Christina Nacos (Natural Furs Int’l) and Steve Zuckerman (Jean Crisan), secretary George Musi (Musi) and treasurer Jimmy Assimakopoulos (Nobel).  Joining the Board for the first time are George Patronidis (North Pole) and Tommy Lambropoulos (Euroline). Other Directors include Elias Kazamias (Kazamias), Dominic Sciortino (Luna), Larry Fudem (Wolfie), Paula Lishman (Paula Lishman Int’l), and Dean Kantakias (Dino Gaspari).

In response to concerns that the rise in value of the Canadian dollar has made travel more expensive for US buyers, NAFFEM is investigating the possibility of providing travel subsidies  (e.g., complimentary hotel nights).

NAFFEM organizers are also encouraging American exhibitors to apply for support through US Government export development programs, which could significantly lower their costs of exhibiting at NAFFEM.

There are also plans to unveil exciting new and productive regional initiatives.  “NAFFEM  is the one place where the whole North American trade convenes, providing a unique opportunity to present these initiatives. Retailers, especially, will find these new programs intriguing,” said Betty Balaila. “Stay tuned for more news soon!”
