Over 500 guests converged upon the Grand Hyatt hotel in anticipation of another exciting NAFA event. The evening began with a champagne reception giving the many fair goers and exhibitors a chance to relax after a hectic day.  As the doors to the Grand Ballroom opened guests enthusiastically rushed to their seats.

Following the words of welcome by Michael Mengar, President and CEO of NAFA, the buyers of NAFA’s February auction Top Lots were invited on stage to receive their plaque and have photos taken.  Special recognition was given to the buyers who purchased the Black NAFA Anniversary Lots.  Eight of these buyers had highlights of their 2013 collections featured in the show that followed.

A high-energy fur parade had models striding through the ballroom within just a few feet of all present.  The fine quality of the NAFA Mink was immediately evident and the detail of the designs garnered applause throughout the show for all of the collections.  Included were Braschi Fur Collection of Italy; Harbin Guifuren Fur Square of China; Abel Furs of Dubai along with Di Cara, EGO, Langiotti, Luxor Furs and Obsession Furs, all from Kastoria, Greece.

The finale scene left guests in awe as the “Anniversary Collection” of Black NAFA Mink was debuted for the first time.  This extraordinary collection featured ten unique garments created by ten international prêt-a-porter designers from ten different countries.

This was a tribute to the tenth anniversary of Black NAFA from Gianfranco Ferre, Italy; Guy Laroche, France; Michael Kors, USA; Lucian Matis, Canada; Lie Sang Bong, Korea; Mark Cheung, China; Vlasis Holevas, Greece; Chapuren, Russia; James Long, Great Britain; and Carmen Alen, Argentina.

The close of the evening saw guests enjoying an after show dessert buffet and champagne celebration.  TV crews took the opportunity for interviews to get impressions on the festivities.  There was no doubt that everyone found this NAFA event to be beyond all expectations.
