Saga Furs, American Legend and Fur Harvesters Auction join forces for 2014 selling season
Saga Furs in Helsinki, Finland will host the auction events of a lifetime in the 2014 selling season. American Legend Cooperative based in Seattle, WA and Fur Harvesters Auction based in North Bay, Canada will bring their goods to Finland to be sold under one roof at the March (inspection from 4 March, selling 11-21 March) and May-June (inspection from 26 May, selling 1-11 June) auctions.
Each of the three prestigious fur companies will sort, grade, catalog, and sell its own goods, in a logical order for the buying community. The two sales bring together the best European and North American mink with the best foxes and the best North American wild fur to create the finest and most diverse fur collections ever offered in one place. The joint March offering in Helsinki is expected to contain 6 million mink, 1 million foxes, and the world’s finest collection of Canadian sable, lynx cats, fisher, lynx and all other wild fur articles.
The starting point of the cooperation was an impossible auction calendar in February and March 2014, further complicated by all the fur fairs taking place around the world. But the real driving forces of the new deal were the incredible benefits that the three companies could offer to fur farmers, trappers, and the buying trade.
Saga Furs in Helsinki traditionally attracts a large and diverse group of buyers due to its strong foothold in Hong Kong/China, the proximity to Russia and a close working relationship with the leading fashion houses in Europe and their suppliers. American Legend and Fur Harvesters Auction will add an additional level of quality buyers in the auction room, thus bringing together the key players in the global mink, fox and wild fur business.
The combined annual turnover of the three companies is well over USD 1.5 billion, with all three companies posting consecutive record profits over the past 4 years.
